Det sanne offerlam tar idag det symbolske offerlams plass, og de mange ofre i Israels historie viker n\u00e5 plassen for Kristi \u00e9ne offer, som pave Leo den Store skriver (Sermo 58) . &laquo;Guds storverk i Det Gamle Testamentets folk var allerede et forspill til V\u00e5r Herre Kristi verk. Ved Kristi verk er menneskeheten blitt gjenl\u00f8st, og all heder og \u00e6re er blitt Gud til del. Det skjedde ved p\u00e5skens mysterium, i hans salige lidelse, hans oppstandelse fra d\u00f8dsriket og hans himmelferd i herlighet &#8211; da han &#8216;ved sin d\u00f8d br\u00f8t d\u00f8den ned, og ved sin oppstandelse gjenreiste v\u00e5rt liv&#8217;. For hele det underfulle sakrament som Kirken er, f\u00f8dtes ut av Kristi side under hans s\u00f8vn p\u00e5 korset&raquo; (II. Vatikankonsil:\u00a0<em>Sacrosanctum Consilium, 5).<\/em> I dag feires ikke nattverd. Men vi hyller Kristi hellig kors.
